In addition to Colin's Tcl-based solution, I'd like to point out an important point about setting preferences in SimVision: if you use the main menu Edit->Preferences, then make changes there. If you use the "OK" button, the changes are saved in the ~/.simvision/settings file and will be used every time you start SimVision. I do see a lot of folks using the cog wheel in the side bar, to open the preferences dialog, this way of doing it does NOT save the changes, so the changes are lost each time you quit SimVision. Note also that in the Edit->Preferences dialog, you can search for words, so typing "process" would filter and highlight all the settings associated with processes, to make them easier to find.
