RE: PicknPlace File generated from Orcad Layout is not in correct format

Hello. There are a couple of methods to do this. If you do a standard "Placed Components Report" then the report will generate based on the creation origin of your symbol. This may not be desirable. To create a usable pick and place file based on the physical footprint package center then you need to create a "Custom Report" The report bases it's placement coordinates off the center of the "Package Geometry Place_Bound Top or Place_bound bottom layers" I'm pretty sure ... someone can confirm that. Go to Reports: Check the boxes "Write a report" & "Display a report", Next click "New/Edit" This opens another screen with a drop down box. Choose "Component". Select the following fields. REFDES, SYM_CENTER_X, SYM_CENTER_Y Click save. Give your report a name, example placement.txt. Click close to get back to the main report screen. Lastly click browse and locate the file you just saved "placement.txt" Finally click report to run that custom report. Note the centroid x and y is based off of your board origin reference (I verified results on a board with the board origin located at bottom left of the board, 0.0 coordinate. Here is a picture for clarity. Look at component T1 and the custom placement report. Note the location. See cursor location bottom of screen. That T1 part has Pin 1 as its origin not the center where the cursor is. The blue square on T1 that you see is the Package Geometry "Place Bound Top Layer" of the footprint. You can see that also on a few other parts in the picture. (That layer is turned on for clarity) Will that work for you ? All the best Paul.
