Many of you may not be familiar with what a Field Application Engineer (most often shortened to FAE or AE) does. AEs at Cadence are critical in making our customers successful by helping them with not just tool adoption, but with methodology development, tape out support, and helping customers overcome technology challenges. It is a challenging job that requires a unique skill set – perseverance, ability to work under pressure, ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations, and working with various stakeholders, both internal and with the customer. There is a different kind of job satisfaction that comes with the AE role, especially when a chip that the AE has been working on is taped out and hits the market.
